Dr. Agnes Mary Chimbiri-Molande is a Malawian diplomat, governance leader and international speaker whose career spans more than four decades across government, academia, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme and multilateral diplomacy.
Appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Malawi to the United Nations in June 2021, she became the first woman to hold the post. Her diplomatic work has addressed the priorities of Malawi, Africa and least developed countries within global debates on development finance, climate resilience, peace and security, gender equality, technology, institutional reform and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Before entering diplomatic service, Dr. Chimbiri-Molande spent nearly fifteen years in the United Nations system.
